Welcome to svkiva.com, a cruising web site focused on Jan and Terri Buskop's Irwin 52 ketch, Kiva. We left Houston, Texas in June, 2007 starting with Key West, The Bahamas and up the East Coast to North Carolina during the summer.

In late fall 2007, we crossed back to The Bahamas to start cruising through the Caribbean. We are now in Trinidad where we plan to spend the hurricane season this year. Next winter, we will be back cruising between the area of Grenada and St. Martin.

We hope everyone enjoys the web site!

A view across the harbor in Chaguaramas, Trinidad

On July 1st we arrived at our summer home, Crews Inn Marina in Chagauramas, Trinidad. We are enjoying the benefits of being in a beautiful marina which includes air conditioning in the boat, a swimming pool and calm seas. There are hundreds of boats "on the hard"; boats that have been pulled out of the water for the summer while their owners have left to go home only to return in November. Still, many stay with their boats all summer long and we have met many new friends around the bay while catching up with old ones.

Trinidad is a very lush but very crowded island. There are many opportunities to travel and we are looking forward to getting off the boat more often to explore this interesting country. At the same time, we have a long list of projects that we want to have finished here before we go back cruising in the fall.

Take care and keep those emails coming!

Jan & Terri
